Newspaper Roundup – A Chica Reads the Papers
I have been sifting through the papers and found lots of gems. So in case you missed it -
- Who said all things baked have to be sweet? If only for the food porn, check out The New York Times latest pick for Fall baking – a savory fig and caramelized onion tart. If pizza is more your idea of savory baking, here are some simple pizza recipes offered by Newsday.
- When Fall is in the air, so are apples. Check out how The Washington Post is offering up another clever way to slice them up this season.
- Not all sweets are bad for you. For those of you who don’t believe me, check out this Chicago Tribune article where dietitians talk about their favorite healthy desserts.
- Current economic times have increased the popularity of brown bag lunches. If your go-to sandwich has you bored, check out this Chicago Tribune recipe for homemade Indian flatbread; because if you ask me, a sandwich is all about the bread.
- If a dessert includes fruit it makes most people feel a lot better about eating it. Here are some simple ways The Miami Herald is offering up for turning fruit into dessert.
- And because I think bloggers are cool, just read this article about a blogger’s quest to find the best pizza in New York.
- Many people are turning in their offices for a kitchen. Read about them in this San Francisco Chronicle article. I would trade in my desk for a stove in a heartbeat.
Happy Reading Everyone.

You rock, girl, for reading and supporting newspapers! They are stuffed with good things, if only more people could appreciate that and take the time to stop and smell the newsprint.
