Sweet Melissa Sundays Rewind ~ Brown Sugar Vanilla Ice Cream

Brown Sugar Vanilla Ice Cream

Now I know it’s totally the wrong time of year to be writing about this but I can’t help it. I’m a hot-blooded Latina who would take a bowl of ice cream over apple pie any day. Just because summer is over, doesn’t mean you can enjoy ice cream. So for Sweet Melissa Sundays this week I bring to you all Brown Sugar Vanilla Ice Cream, which was picked back in July by Karen and not this week’s pick by Cristine of Cooking with Cristine of Apple Orchard Pecan Crumble (sorry Cristine). Make sure to check out Cristine’s blog though, as I’m sure her crumble will turn out as beautiful as all of her other creations.

Not too much to say about this ice cream other than the fact that it was FANTASTIC. My ice cream maker investment earlier this year was one of my best because with it, making ice cream and sorbets is super easy. Making this creation could not have been easier and the use of brown sugar gave the ice cream great depth of flavor. I am the self-proclaimed vanilla ice cream expert and this one was like none other I have ever had. The best way to describe the taste – you know how great brown sugar smells…well, that’s how the ice cream tastes.

Melissa Murphy offered suggestions on how to jazz up this treat but I thought it was great all by itself. Make sure to check out Karen’s blog for the recipe or pick up a copy of the book.

I just knew the ice cream would have been delicious with the apple crisp! Now I am kicking myself for not taking the extra time to make it, especially since I have a KA ice cream bowl. LOVE the picture!

A homemade ice cream with brown sugar and vanilla sounds incredible! I would break the rules of not eating ice cream when it's cold for this one :)
