Sweet Melissa Sundays (Rewind) – Snickerdoodles

I’ve been living under a rock for the last 29 years. Because until making these a couple of weeks ago, I had never tasted a snickerdoodle. And I only started hearing about them last year when I started following other foodies online, despite the fact I have a plethora of recipes for them at home in my many cookbooks.

Snickerdoodles were a Sweet Melissa Sundays pick from last August chosen by Spike Bakes. I couldn’t make the recipe then because I was preparing for my wedding but knew I had to revisit the pick for several reasons. First – cookies are the baked good of choice at my house and we love them in all their lovely forms. So I couldn’t figure out how the heck had we never heard of snickerdoodles. And to add insult to injury, the more foodies I came across online, the more I learned about the (well-deserved) hype surrounding this treat.

I almost want to say this is the best snickerdoodle I have ever tasted but I have nothing else to base it on. However, any other one I make after this is going to have some big cookie shoes to fill. It’s perfectly crispy on the outside with just the right amount of give and chew on the inside. And the cinnamon sugar exterior gives it just the right amount of sweet and warmth. They are perfect right out of the oven and taste just as good after a three-night stay in my cookie jar. And because they could not be easier to make, make sure to check out Spike Bakes for the recipe and clear out your cookie jar for this one.

So glad you finally got to make and TASTE Snickerdoodles. They are one of my husband's favorite cookies (if made correctly!–not crunchy, he doesn't like when they're crunchy.

I love snickerdoodles! They're a perfect change from the traditional sugar cookie, and the texture is "perfect" in my eyes. Glad you finally got a taste (and enjoyed, por supuesto!)

I'd never had snickerdoodles until recently either when I made them myself! I made the cookies from King Arthur Flour Whole Grain Baking and found them to be completely tasty!! Peace, Stephanie

Wow, never had a snickerdoodle before? That's my family's favorite cookie – I don't bake very often, but I love this cookie – slightly crunchy on the outside yet chewy on the inside. You can now cross "eat a snickerdoodle" off your bucket list! :D

Snickerdoodles were a staple growing up. Everybody had one thing they made well so we ate lots of snickerdoodles, chocolate chip cookies, brownies, and biscuits. A well balanced diet. Those you've made look great also.

I will be right over for a cookie! They look so good! I made some for my son yesterday and added sugar twice instead of the flour..I then had to go back and double everything else..they turned out way to sweet..I threw them away.

Well then you're one step further than me, I still haven't baked or tried a snickerdoodle! But I'm glad to see I'm not the only snickerdoodle criminal out here :)

Never tasted a snickerdoodle?! Good thing that's not the case anymore. These were my most favorite cookies ever as a child. Great picture, too!

I've never had a snickerdoodle either! Maybe it's a New Yorker thing?! Haha! They look great! Now when I try a recipe I have something to base it on!
