Chocolate Pudding

Raise your hand if Jello Pudding Cups bring out the kid in you?  And by kid I mean when your spoon can’t dig more pudding out of the cup you switch to a couple of other utensils and attack with cup and wrapper with your fingers and tongue?  (Me, Me, Me!)

What if I told you that you could make some pudding at home that is even better?  Sure it takes a bit more work than just ripping off a wrapper and digging in, but not much more.

This chocolate pudding was this week’s Sweet Melissa Sundays pick by Leslie of Lethally Delicious.  It was so creamy and delicious that once you make it, I’m sure you will overlook the fact that I am posting this a little late.  All you need is six ingredients that come together quite simply and bake in a pan with simmering warm water into one of the most luscious things you will ever taste.

The only downside here is that you have to let these cups completely cool and then serve chilled for the best flavor.

Visit Lethally Delicious for the recipe or get yourself a copy of the Sweet Melissa Baking Book.

You can’t see it, but I am raising my hand high up on this one. Oh, I wish I had some pudding asap. Might be time to whip some up, thanks for the little reminder that life is truly better with a little pudding.

I didn’t get to make these, and after reading about some of the issues others were having w/this recipe, I didn’t try too hard to “squeeze” them into my busy schedule :o ) But yours turned out really nice-looking and very creamy. So maybe I should give them a try sometime anyway (maybe scale down the recipe).

When get around to making them don’t wrap in foil too tightly so that some of the steam can escape. And you can totally scale this down. I scaled down to a third and ended up with 2 pudding cups.

Yummy, yummy! Chocolate pudding is one of my favorites. I loved going to my grandmother’s for dinner because she’d always make pudding for dessert. :)

Do you absolutely have to let the pudding cool? What harm would be done to eat just one serving warm (or hot)? I looks so good that I might have to try it at different temperatures!! My aunt used to make us chocolate pudding–so much better than Jello!

    Best,
    Bonnie

I’m so jealous! Your puddings turned out how I had hoped mine would. Not sure where I went wrong but I’m inspired by the few people that were able to really make this recipe work. I need to give this one another go. Yours look absolutely perfect Eliana!

I didn’t grow up on pudding cups, but have found the sugar free ones help me get through my dieting days. So I can definitely relate to wanting to get every last lick out of the package. lol I wonder if this recipe could be made sugar free.

I am a sucker for VANILLA pudding and would love to make a batch. I recently made a custard, but it wasn’t quite the same. No eight year old eats custard anyway – not knowingly.

It would be very hard to wait patiently while the cups cool, then waiting some more while they chill!

My brother and I would always fight over the last few pudding cups. He always seemed to win! I will have to give these a try. I love the idea of making pudding homemade.

Oh yes… this and mac and cheese always bring me back to my youth.

Whenever my mom would make it for us, I always requested skin… which my sister found disgusting. But for me it’s gotta have skin. :-)

Ooo yea this really does remind me of the days when I was smaller and had less responsibility haha. Love the different in color between the top and inside. For some reason that makes it that much more irresistible.
