Anne Burrell Cookbook Giveaway

I’ve got a giveaway for you all today that I am super excited about.  I’m giving away TWO COPIES of Chef Anne Burrell’s first cookbook – Cook Like a Rock Star.

I have been a huge fan on Chef Anne’s since the first episode of her cooking show on the Food Network and have tried tons of her recipes.  My favorites – this pasta and these cookies.  Chef Anne’s recipes are chocked full of flavor and easy to follow and her show, complete with grunting and excessive hand gestures, is a pleasure to watch.  (Thank you Food Network for not replacing her with some ridiculous cake-making competition show.)  As if her show wasn’t good enough, Chef Anne has outdone herself yet again with her first cookbook.

Chef Anne’s infectious personality transcends the pages of Cook Like a Rock Star, with recipes that will challenge seasoned home cooks but also serve as an inspiration for new cooks.  She is the real deal folks.  Classically trained, she has rocked out some of the best Italian restaurants in New York City and rocked out The Food Network.  Now she is going to help you rock it out in your home kitchens with 125 rustic yet elegant recipes, all based on accessible ingredients, along with encouraging notes and handy professional tricks that will help you cook more efficiently.

My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting Chef Anne during her book launch event at the NYC Wine and Food Festival a couple of months ago.  And let me tell you – she is just as sweet (if not sweeter) in person as she is on TV.  Since I had already ordered a copy of the book, I am giving away the free copies we received for attending the event.

To enter, simply leave a comment on this post letting me know your favorite foodie in your life by 11pm on Monday, December 5th.  For their love of good food, two of my favorite foodies are Chef Anne and my mom.

This giveaway is for US residents only.   The winner will be chosen at random, notified by email and will have 48 hours to respond.

Good Luck!

Love this giveaway! Chef Anne totally deserves to win the Next Iron Chef..i love watching her on TV. My favorite foodies are my dad (for creating delicious recipes ‘a ojo’), my mom (for always trying to please everyone’s tastes!), and my sisters (one who appreciates anything considered dessert…her sweet tooth is out of this world; and my the other one, with a tiny tiny sweet tooth, can seriouslyy cook tasty meals!)

Love Anne Burrell! She’s such a rockstar!! Hmmm Favorite Foodies are my Dad and my twin sister. My dad makes the art of cooking stand out with his slow, patient, thoughtful, and intricate technique that result in meals that compliment yet can stand apart from each other. He reminds me of the Puerto Rican Tyler Florence. Love Tyler! My twin sister Olga is a brown sugar queen. She makes one of the best flans I have ever tasted. She deviates slightly from the traditional recipe and has truly created a “flanboyant” winner. Smooches!

I’ve never seen anyone massage a chicken as passionately as Anne can. To say she’s a foodie is putting it mildly. ;) One of my favorite foodies, also of the Food Network Fame, is Ina Garten. Watching her helped me kick things up a notch (to borrow slang from another Food Network star).

    Anna Mullican — November 28, 2011 @ 3:47 pm

One of my favorite recipes is Chef Anne’s baked BBQ, but I don’t own any of her cookbooks! My favorite foodie is probably Jamie Oliver because he always sounds so passionate when he talks about food.

I agree, Chef Anne should win Iron Chef. She rocks. My favorite foodies: my brother Dante, who passed away earlier this year. He taught me how to make basic cheesecake when I was about 11 or 12, and always looked forward to me walking in with one in hand. I truly missed him this Thanksgiving, he so loved Holiday meals. The other would be my 7-yr-old, he has quite the palate, since he was a baby, never liked packaged baby food, and now we discuss his lunch options on schooldays: he prefers his grilled cheese made with cheddar, he requests tuna salad for lunch, and enjoys roasted chicken sandwiches in his lunchbox. oh! and I must put kimchee on his sticky rice.

    Amanda — November 28, 2011 @ 10:29 pm

I just recently really started paying attention to Anne, becoming a fan for sure! Lots of spunk, a refreshing point of view compared to the other chefs and hosts I usually spend time watching. And the hair is growing on me :)

My Nonna is who I look up to the most, inside and outside of the kitchen. She is the gate keeper to our VERY old family recipes and shares her techniques with only who she feels is appropriate, like me! When I come over unannounced, she can whip up the most delicious meal without even thinking about it – effortlessly and with ease. She is telling me about her day or life events then BOOM, there is dinner. Old style, rustic, Italian cooking is what she has passed down to me and I aspire to be just like her in the kitchen and in life. She is simply fabulous.

    Susan — November 28, 2011 @ 10:32 pm

My favorite foodie is my great grandmother Evie. She went to work as a professional cook in the early 1900s. It wasn’t easy. She cooked over campfires in logging camps until the word got around that she was a good cook, and a large resort hired her as a chef. She never again cooked outdoors over a fire. She now cooked in a hotel kitchen featuring a wood stove and sink. She worked until she had put her 3 daughters through school so they would have a future. Luckily, several of her recipes still survive, and they are delicious! So, when you put it all together, Evie is my favorite foodie!

I really like Christopher Kimball from America’s test kitchen..he always is easy to understand and all the people who work for him respect his gentle ways..When I see an episode on the tv on our pbs station I can write down how to make the meal, cookie, ham, turkey, ribs, and or anything easily..The food comes out great and it is a pleasure to take some time to watch and get great recipes and learn how to make food to come out tasting great..they did all the work and research and all I have to do is watch, write and pay attention…would love to win one of those cookbooks, love to learn how to make great recipes…

My favorite foodie is still the one and only Julia Child. I used to watch her show as a child (she came on right after Sesame Street). She always seemed so cheerful and helpful despite cooking some pretty intimidating things.

    Carmen I. Robles — November 29, 2011 @ 9:33 am

Yes..Anne rocks!! I looove her energy and passion in the kitchen. Her
sense of competion is amazing. My favorite foodie is Bobby Flay, because
he is one of those chefs on TV who is SO, SO happy to welcome international
cuisine with such passion and respect the Hispanicl cuisine. As
far as I remember, he was one of the first chefs to say the word ( and use
it on his recipes) “cilantro” without any shame.!! He is so passionate to showcase a green plantain, too.
I even saw him dancing “Salsa” on one of his famous ” Throwdowns”.
    Go Bobby!

My favorite foodie? Hmm, that’s a tough one to pick just one. There aren’t too many on the Food Network that I don’t really like. I might just say I’m my favorite foodie. ;) I like Anna at Cookie Madness for her extreme love of cookies just like mine.
Of the 5 left on Next Iron Chef, I actually like all five of them and would be happy with any of them winning, at the same time, I secretly think Anne should win. She has the most kitchen stadium experience and is so fun to watch!

I really like almost everyone on the Food Network and the cooking channel. But my love of creative cooking comes from my grandmother, who raised 7 kids during the depression with a garden and what little they could buy at the store. What flavor in her foods and what abundance at the table !!
I saw her house recently and what used to be the “big garden” was about the size of a small driveway !

My second favorite is myself! :) After years and TEARS of my mom trying to teach me to cook and bake (and of me flat out refusing), I finally taught myself to do both, and now run a home based bakery! My mom passed away 10 years ago and never got to see me in the kitchen, but I know she would be so proud.

I go into the kitchen and can’t find a thing to make, he goes in and comes out with a delicious meal with whatever he finds in the cabinets! He is very creative and has a great palate. I sometimes think that we would be in real trouble if he wasn’t so limited with his diet (he is a final stage renal failure patient) because if he could eat it all, we would!

I think this is such a sweet giveaway. I am jealous that you had the opportunity to meet Chef Anne. Her cookbook sounds amazing.
My fave foodie hands down, is my 4 year old daughter. She already keeps me on my toes with her energy and sense of humor, but she inspires me to try new things in the realm of cooking. She loves helping me in the kitchen and loves to try new things. The other night we made eggplant and spaghetti roll ups. We see things in the grocery store and she asks to try it. For a mom that loves to cook and be inventive, having a child like her is such a joy.
So this cookbook, if we won it, would go to great use with two major food lovers in the house. :-)

    Hi Eliana:

This is a great giveaway. I have been reading your blog for a while and very much enjoy it, but I have never written a comment. I must say that my favorite foodie would be my mother, who is a great cook and I have learned many techniques from her. Like you, I am from the Caribbean and we love good food that is well cooked and seasoned with love. I must say that I also like your passion for food, so you would be my second choice as a favorite foodie. Your passion and fearlessness comes through in all the recipes that you present in your blog. Thanks for featuring so many diverse things in your blog, it has opened me up to a new world. Keep up the good work and keep those recipes coming.

    Lori — December 4, 2011 @ 1:48 am

My first of two favorite foodies in the world is my budding chef daughter, who will be starting culinary school in the spring! She is following her dream of becoming a chef and making us and her new husband, who is active Navy military and currently deployed, VERY proud! She was heartbroken to learn that as a new wife, she would not join her husband abroad, but rather, have to wait a year state-side to see him again. Instead of wallowing in self-pity, she is carving (pun intended) out a life for herself and a future for her family, by taking her natural foodie talents to school. You go girl!

The second of my two favorite foodies is the source of my daughter’s talent – her grandma/my mom. The woman can cook! I was blessed to have a mother that was not only a talented cook, but a loving mother who patiently taught me the value and love of cooking. I couldn’t be more blessed. Thanks mama!

I love Chef Anne and Sunny Anderson the best (hard to narrow down, because I love all the FN Chefs as well as other’s i’ve reserached). I love to cook, but don’t have the space needed to experiment as much as I’d like. Chef Anne gives me the knowledge of what to do on many things that i love as far as stylish comfort cooking and Sunny gives me the more relaxed comfort food with a little updated flair. I didn’t know how to cook besides boxes and cans until a few yrs ago so FN has totally changed my life (and my families stomach!)
